Polymarket's PM Derivatives Wins NFA Approval as Futures Broker
PM Derivatives, LLC cleared regulatory review to broker fully collateralized futures, completing Polymarket's regulated U.S. infrastructure.
Prediction market platform Polymarket has secured a key regulatory milestone in the United States after its subsidiary PM Derivatives, LLC received approval from the National Futures Association to operate as a Futures Commission Merchant, the company announced Nov. 3, 2026.
The designation allows PM Derivatives to act as a broker for customers on a fully collateralized basis, meaning client positions must be backed by sufficient capital at the time of placement — a structure designed to limit counterparty risk. The approval rounds out Polymarket's domestic regulatory footprint, giving the company a regulated exchange, clearinghouse and now a licensed brokerage operation all operating within U.S. jurisdiction.

The development marks a significant step for the prediction-market sector, which has long operated in regulatory gray areas in the United States. By obtaining NFA registration, Polymarket positions itself as a compliant venue for event-based futures contracts, potentially opening access to a broader base of institutional and retail participants who previously faced legal uncertainty when engaging with similar platforms.
The fully collateralized broker model is considered a more conservative structure relative to traditional leveraged futures arrangements, reducing systemic exposure for both participants and regulators. Analysts note that this compliance architecture could serve as a template for other prediction-market operators seeking a path to legitimacy under U.S. commodity trading law.
